The primary objective of the Applied Information Statistics Major is to educate students to become professionals offering comprehensive knowledge and techniques of collecting, managing and analyzing information. Towards this end, the Major first provides students with a comprehensive understanding of statistical theory and enhances students' capability of performing statistical analysis. Second, the Major trains students to become leaders in the information-oriented society by nurturing their ability to effectively collect, process and retrieve information. Third, it provides students with the ability to acquire fundamental concepts of computer science, statistics and economics and to apply them to the real world problem in the systematic manner. The Major was established in 1980. Since then, around 700 students has been graduated and they are now working in every sector of Korean society. The curriculum of the Major consists of various courses of economics, computer science and information science, in order to give students opportunities of studying cogently related fields. |
